Day after day and week after week, of working long hours and maintaining a busy schedule can really do a number on the health and appearance of your hair and skin. We all struggle with flat, dull strands, those tired looking eyes, and dry, irritated patches from time to time but the price tags on the lavish products said to correct these subtle annoyances can be a bit discouraging. What if I were to tell you that there are actually natural remedies for your hair and skin that you can quickly whip up yourself, using ingredients that are more than likely already in your kitchen, or can be easily found at your local grocery store? Here are a few quick and simple natural skin & hair remedies and recipes that will leave you feeling revived and refreshed. Go ahead, pamper yourself!
*Treat Dry Skin:
- 1/2 of an avocado
- 1/4 cup of honey
Mash the avocado and combine it with the honey. Apply the mixture to a clean face and let it sit for about 10 minutes. Gently remove the mixture with soap and warm water and there you have it, silky, smooth skin!
*Clarify and Restore Shine to Hair:
- 1 tbsp of apple cider vinegar
Shampoo hair as usual and add the vinegar, letting it sit for about 5 minutes. Rinse hair and condition, repeat once a week. Your hair will be noticeably lighter and shinier!
*Banish Dark Under-Eye Circles:
- 1 sprig of mint leaves
Chop and and grind up leaves and apply substance to dark circles. Let sit for 20 minutes and you will look fresh and revived in no time!
*Clarify and Exfoliate Skin:
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tbsp white sugar
- 2 tbsp coconut oil
- 2 mashed strawberries
Combine all of the ingredients in a bowl and apply to face, gently polishing and rubbing away dead skin. Rinse with warm water and repeat 1-2 times per week for bright, radiant skin!
*Moisturize Unruly Hair:
- 1/2 of an avocado
- 1/2 of a banana
- 1 egg, beaten
- 2 tbsp olive oil
Mash the avocado and banana together completely and combine the mixture with the olive oil and beaten egg, mixing thoroughly. Apply to dry hair and leave in for 20-30 minutes. Rinse with cool water and shampoo as usual. Repeat shampooing process if necessary to remove all of the residue from the mask and enjoy soft, lustrous locks!
